DISASTER MANAGEMENT AND HUMANITARIAN RESPONSE INTERN (RECRUITS ATTACHMENT & INTERNSHIP)
NGO · South C, Nairobi
Closes 1 Nov 2026 Full-time 4 positions
Kenya Red Cross Society is offering an internship within its Disaster Management department for students and graduates passionate about humanitarian work. The intern will support the coordination of emergency-preparedness activities, assist with compiling situation reports during response operations, and help organise logistics for relief-item distribution under the supervision of experienced disaster-management officers. Additional duties include supporting community-awareness sessions on disaster risk reduction, assisting with data entry for beneficiary tracking systems, and helping prepare basic donor and programme reports. This attachment offers meaningful exposure to how a leading humanitarian organisation plans for, responds to and recovers from disasters ranging from floods and drought to disease outbreaks across Kenya. It is well suited to students pursuing disaster management, social work, public health, development studies or a related field seeking practical humanitarian-sector experience. Interns will be required to maintain sensitivity and confidentiality when interacting with affected communities and beneficiary data, and may occasionally support field visits within Nairobi and surrounding counties. On completion, interns receive a certificate recognising specific competencies gained, including basic incident reporting, coordination support and community engagement skills valued across the humanitarian sector.
