ECONOMIC RESEARCH AND BANKING SUPERVISION INTERN (RECRUITS ATTACHMENT & INTERNSHIP)
Banking Instituation · Haile Selassie Ave, Nairobi
Closes 1 Nov 2026 Full-time 4 positions
The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) is offering an internship opportunity within its Research and Banking Supervision functions for graduates in economics, finance, statistics or a related field. The intern will support data collection and basic analysis for economic bulletins, assist with compiling banking-sector statistics, and help organise documentation used in monetary policy research. Additional duties include supporting the review of routine regulatory returns submitted by commercial banks, assisting with literature reviews for research papers, and observing internal briefings on macroeconomic developments affecting Kenya's financial system. This attachment offers unmatched exposure to how Kenya's apex financial regulator formulates monetary policy, supervises banking institutions and safeguards financial stability. Interns will work closely with economists and bank examiners, receive structured orientation on CBK's mandate and governance, and are required to sign a confidentiality agreement given the sensitivity of financial-sector data handled. The programme is highly competitive and suited to top academic performers seeking a foundation for a career in central banking, economic policy or financial-sector regulation. Successful interns receive a formal completion certificate and a structured performance appraisal at the end of the attachment period.
