Brookside Dairy is offering an internship within its Quality Assurance and Food Science department at its Ruiru processing plant, for students interested in dairy manufacturing and food safety. The intern will support routine quality-control testing of raw milk and finished dairy products under laboratory supervision, assist with compiling daily quality-check logs, and help monitor adherence to hygiene and food-safety standards across production lines. Other responsibilities include supporting basic microbiological and chemical testing procedures, assisting with documentation for regulatory and certification audits, and observing calibration checks on laboratory and processing equipment. This attachment offers practical exposure to how a leading dairy processor maintains consistent product quality from raw-milk intake through to packaged output, in line with Kenya Bureau of Standards and international food-safety requirements. It is well suited to students pursuing food science, dairy technology, biochemistry or industrial chemistry who wish to gain hands-on laboratory and plant experience. Interns are required to strictly observe laboratory safety protocols and hygiene requirements given the sensitive nature of food production. On successful completion, interns receive a certificate of attachment recognising the specific quality-assurance competencies and laboratory skills gained during the placement period.
