The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) is offering an internship within its Conservation Programmes department at its Nairobi headquarters, for students passionate about wildlife and environmental conservation. The intern will support data compilation for conservation project reports, assist with organising GIS and field-survey data, and help prepare materials for donor and stakeholder communications. Other responsibilities include supporting the coordination of community-conservation outreach activities, assisting with basic literature reviews on biodiversity and landscape-conservation topics, and observing internal planning meetings for ongoing field programmes across Kenya's conservation landscapes. This attachment provides valuable exposure to how a leading conservation organisation designs and implements programmes balancing wildlife protection, community livelihoods and landscape management. It is well suited to students pursuing wildlife management, environmental science, natural resource management, GIS or conservation biology who wish to build practical, field-relevant skills. Interns will work under the mentorship of experienced conservation officers, receive orientation on AWF's programme approach and safeguarding policies, and are expected to handle project and location data with appropriate discretion. On successful completion, interns receive a formal certificate of attachment recognising the specific conservation competencies gained during the internship period.
